Welcome to the world of Radiology my name is April Young!

I am the Clinical Coordinator for the Radiologic Technologist Program. I supervise and assist students as they perform clinical rotations at several hospitals and clinics. I have been a Radiologic Technologist since 2002 and have been teaching at Nichols since August 2008.

I teach the following classes:

*Radiographic Procedures and Lab
This class is based on classroom and hands on learning. This is where the students will learn various positioning and technical skills.

*Introduction to Radiology
This is an introductory class that will inform the student about various radiology information (such as ethics, clinical information and hospital organization) that will assist them in their role as a Radiologic Technologist.

*Radiation Physics
The wonderful world of Physics will educate the student on how the inside of an x-ray tube works.

*Imaging Equipment
The students will gain information and knowledge concerning digital radiology, special procedures, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, mammography, ultrasound, radiation therapy and nuclear medicine.

*Sectional Anatomy
The students will gain general knowledge on the basics of sectional anatomy and will learn to identify major anatomical structures when viewing sectional images.

Radiology is an exciting field to get into.  If you have any questions or would like more information regarding the program please feel free to e-mail me at april.young@jcps.k12.mo.us
